A Suspicious Death, A Husband's Arrest,
A Fight for Justice — A True Story
by Andrea Egger in collaboration
with Paul Dunn
In a small New Mexico town, a Latina beauty dies from a shotgun blast. Nobody believes Monica Dunn, who has the eyes of the all men upon her flaunted, voluptuous body, would die by her own hand. And especially not by a shotgun. An enigmatic letter is discovered that Monica wrote a month before her death. Is it a suicide note or a prophesy that she will be murdered? Does she surmise her handsome police officer husband plans to kill her? Or is she setting him up?
Monica's family's political connections cause an uproar. The newsmaking testimony of a pathologist from the American Association of Forensic Pathologists results in some labeling the doctor a fraud, a criminal. Meanwhile, groundbreaking work in would ballistics makes the case famous worldwide. The vivid controversy surrounding the case makes it seem as though Monica has returned from the grave to tell her story—but does she implicate an innocent man?
In this gripping true crime book, award-winning investigative journalist, Andrea Egger, takes readers at an intense pace through shocking twists and turns in a whirlwind of romance, betrayal and violent death.
"A compelling true crime story. Egger has skillfully
combined Paul's and others' memories with a variety of sources
into a potent psychological drama."
